He's here!!

Lukas Ryan Burger
9-26-08
7 lbs 12 oz, 21 inches
born at 7:13 am
My boys like to come early. Luke wasn't due until 10/8, but he decided to come 2 weeks early. Labor was very quick. I woke up at 3 in the morning with contractions, got Will up at 4, got to the hospital a little after 5 and Luke was here at 7:13 am. The experience was much better the second time around. You always here people say, "the second time around labor and delivery is faster," and for me it definately was. Less than 4 hours of labor and a few minutes of pushing was awesome!
We had a little bit of a scare when Luke came out, he had the umbilical cord around his neck but he was okay. His apgar score was low at first but the second time they did it he was fine. He didn't have to be taken away, they took care of everything in the delivery room and I was able to nurse him within 30 mins. He ended up having Jaundice and had to be in the incubator to recieve phototherapy, which was kind of a drag, but he nipped it in the bud and was still able to come home today and didn't have to stay over an extra night.
Charlie couldn't be happier to be a big brother. He is very sweet and gentle with Luke. He is also a little overbearing, but I'm sure he'll mellow out once he gets used to him. He doesn't quite understand that Luke can't dig with him or play cars or trains with him yet, so we are trying to keep him busy by being a helper. We are happy to be home (especially me!), and are thrilled to welcome our new addition!

Almost There

I am now at 37 weeks. I had the last sonogram yesterday, the pictures didn't come out so great because he had his arm on the side of his face, but they are still pretty cute. The Sono Tech said right now he is measuring at about 8lbs 2oz, but could be as big as 8lbs 8oz right now. I still have 3 weeks left so hopefully he'll come soon and won't be too much bigger. 8 lbs is not bad, but 9 and up is a little scary to me. If he is anything like Charlie, I should go into labor tomorrow. Charlie has a prediction of his baby brother coming on the 25th (he picked it out on the calendar), which would be really cool especially since Charlie was born on the 25th too. We can only wait and see. Here are a couple pictures of the sono and of me and my giant belly.Front of face Profile (looks like Will to me) Me, torpedo belly!

Ready for Baby Brother

Charlie is ready for his new baby brother. He likes to try everything out for him. His latest obsession is the crib, he likes to get in it everyday and pretend to be sleeping like a "tiny baby." He also throws baby socks, rattles, and teethers that he finds in there. He is so excited to be a big brother! He's probably going to kill me for this one some day, but I had to! He is just too cute with his toy magazine. Besides, it documents successful potty training. Not bad for 2 1/2.

Safari and Helicopter Flying

We went to Six Flags Safari, it was really cool! Charlie was a little nervous but very interested. We had a lot of close encounters, but luckily some of the bigger and dangerous animals were behind fences.

It was funny to see the animals in the road with all the cars and not want to move....

This ostrich was pecking at my door trying to get in

This guy was licking our car, this is a view from the sunroof. This is pretty much what Charlie looked like the whole drive through. He also had a pony ride. One of the crazy roller coasters at six flags. Off to Dad's helicopter flying school... In training
